Is it just us, or for a minute there did it feel like winter was never going to end?

Then, all of a sudden the clocks go forward, the evenings become longer and lighter, the trees bud and the blossom blooms. Spring has sprung. And boy, are we ready for it – especially when weather forecasters are predicting another scorching spring and summer in England.

So in the spirit of this new season, here are some quick and simple ways to rescue your home from the depths of winter and give it a designer face-lift for spring.

Think lovely, light and fresh interiors that will put a smile on your face.

  1. Delicious ice-cream pastels

Say hello to the new neutrals – pastels. Forget boring beiges and greys and opt for ice-cream inspired pastel colours instead. Luscious lilac. Baby blue. Rose blush. Marigold yellow. Take your pick. These cheery shades are synonymous with spring and are guaranteed to give your interiors a much-needed lift.

Get your paintbrush out and coat a whole wall in one of these dreamy shades. But if that’s a bit too much for you, incorporate some of these hues in a patterned table cloth, cushions or accessories. Either will inject some vitality into your home.

Or if you’re feeling brave, try Pantone’s colour of the year, Living Coral. Here’s How to incorporate Pantone’s colour of the year into your interiors.

2. Bring the outside in

One thing we love about spring is that it brings with it a kaleidoscope of colour. The trees erupt into every shade of green. Daffodils, crocuses and bluebells flower. So why not incorporate some of this into your interiors with an array of potted plants, hanging baskets and flowers?

We especially love the trend for terrariums right now. Create your very own indoor garden by growing ferns, aquamarines, air plants, African violets and more. They’re a great way to create a miniature landscape in your home.

Also, natural materials like wood and wicker will help you to create your very own indoor sanctuary. Try a wooden side table or wicker chair and see how they transform your interiors.

3. Let the natural light in

It’s time to ditch the thick, lined winter curtains in favour of sheer curtains and blinds. You’ll be amazed how much lighter and brighter this will make a room. Trust us.

Cotton and linen curtains are the obvious choices as they will keep your room cool and provide shade from the sun without making the room feel dark. And curtains are a lovely way to incorporate some of those nice pastel tones we were talking about before. It’s a no brainer really.

4. Fancy a bit of Feng Shui?

Another ridiculously easy way to breathe some life into your interiors is to have a shuffle around of your furniture and accessories. Basically, experiment with a bit with Feng Shui.

There are no rules, just have a go and see what works. Why not reposition things to face a window or create a focal point for a room and position key pieces of furniture around that? It’s true that simply switching up where you put things can create new energy and add a whole new dimension to your interiors. And it’s so easy to do.
