Ahh, the roast dinner. A quintessential English dish.
Maple-glazed root veg. Crispy roast potatoes. Fresh spring greens. Succulent meat (or if you’re a veggie, a hearty nut roast). Perhaps a Yorkshire pudding, if you’re feeling fancy. And, of course, a healthy serving of rich gravy. We’re making ourselves hungry here…
Nothing screams Sunday or weekend vibes more like a proper good roast.
So we’ve rounded up the best of the bunch. Sampling the finest roasts Manchester has to offer. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
Get your knife and fork at the ready and let’s dive in.
You’ll find this restaurant in Spinningfields, serving up a delicious selection of roast dinner dishes. Expect a roast with all the trimmings, including tasty roasted veggies, buttery potatoes, succulent stuffing and more.
The venue boasts luxe interiors with a modern and contemporary feel. If you’re looking for a roast with a sense of something special, then make a note of The Refinery. Amazing stuff.
Gorilla on Oxford Road is a versatile venue that has cemented itself as one of the town’s favourite food and drinks hotspots. No wonder when it offers a space for day drinking, delicious eats and late night gigs. You’ll also be glad to hear that their roast dinner does not disappoint. Choose from a selection of meats, or a veggie option (tempting even for meat eaters) and expect all the trimmings from roasties to veg and Yorkshire puddings. And the best bit – it’s all served until 10pm.
They’ve even got a Gin Bar on a stunning mezzanine level, so you can pair your eats with a thirst-quenching G&T. Or, order from their wide range of classic and creative cocktails. The perfect addition to your weekend roast.
Situated on Oxford Road, The Refuge is a well-known destination for late-night cocktails but you might not know that they also do one of the best roasts in town. On Sundays, you can enjoy their dedicated roast menu, serving up all your favourites. And the portions are very generous. They also offer an excellent vegetarian option that changes from week to week.
With its grand architecture and gorgeous interiors, this restaurant is one of our favourites in town. All you social media addicts will be glad to know that it’s very Instagrammable too. Definitely worth a visit if you ask us.
The Wharf is the ideal spot for a leisurely Sunday roast. It’s located in Castlefield and this little haven feels like you could almost be in the countryside. Serving up hearty, homemade roasts with good options for vegetarians too, it’s no wonder this place is always packed.
On a nice day, you can soak up the sunshine out on the large terrace with views over the canals. And dog-lovers rejoice because pooches are allowed. What could be better?
If you’re feeling fancy, then Hawksmoor is the place for you. Situated on Deansgate, this award-winning restaurant does not disappoint. It’s a meat lover’s dream, serving up generous portions of slow roasted rump of lamb or a prime rib steak.
The restaurant is set in a grand Victorian building and the interiors ooze elegance glamour. So it’s a truly beautiful backdrop for you to tuck into a roast.
